Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center is a 218-bed acute-care hospital located in Panama City, Florida. The hospital includes a 42-bed critical care wing, which includes a 20-bed adult-level Intensive Care Unit and the region's only four-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and 18-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
The Central Sterile Coordinator oversees the daily operation of the Central Sterile Department by supervising the employees and ensuring that sterilization procedures are not compromised. Ensures that all patient equipment used in the hospital is in good working order and that all instrumentation is turned over for future cases in a timely manner without compromising the cleaning process. Keeps OR Director informed of any problems or concerns regarding surgical instrumentation or supplies. Oversees the quick turnover of Crash Carts.

* Demonstrates knowledge and application of sterile technique, equipment and supplies needed for various surgical procedures.
* Communicates, interacts and participates in teamwork on the unit.
* Practices, endorses and provides customer service skills to patients, visitors, physicians and staff.
* Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patients right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
* Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.
* Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
* Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient s care which results in harm.
* Attends inservice presentations and completes all mandatory educations requirements.
* Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
* Regular, Punctual and Dependable Attendance.
* Able to perform all duties as described for CSS Technician
* Checks equipment/instruments for proper operation according to procedure, and reports malfunctions and/or hazardous conditions of equipment to the appropriate person.
* Maintains daily record for sterilizers and maintains audit trail for QA.
* Tracks lost and damaged instruments and communicates with OR staff in reference to any impending problems.
* Supervises the record keeping of rental equipment, ensuring that the patients accounts are properly charged.
* Assist with maintaining of department files of each employee, documenting continuing education, employee counseling and competency in clinical skills at least annually.
* Maintains monthly employee work and call schedule
* High School Graduate
* Experience as a Certified OR Tech
* Experience as a Certified CST
OR Tech or CST
2 years hospital experience preferred OR experience
